I love exploring and ever since I became a mom, I have more reason to do so. Last weekend, my son turned 7 months and since it was also my husbands birthday weekend, I decided to spend the weekend in Poughkeepsie.
What I Loved about the mid-hudson Children’s Museum

Children under 1 are free and adults tickets are $13.
The museum offers discounts for:
- Family Free Nights: Free admission on the third Saturday of each month from 5–8 PM

The Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum also offers discounts, including:
Easily accessible ( by public transportation & walking)
We took the Metro North from The Bronx to Poughkeepsie with only one transfer. I was nervous about traveling with a baby stroller but there was plenty of space and elevators to get around in train station.
Once we got in Poughkeepsie we headed to River Side Station to eat a quick bite before heading to the museum. The Museum is walking distance (4 min. walk) from the Poughkeepsie station and you get to enjoy the view of the river on your way there.
The Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum is wheelchair accessible and has a deck with umbrella tables overlooking the Hudson River.
Lots of sightseeing
Aside from the Discovery Museum and ample food places to choose from, there is so much to see in Poughkeepsie! The Mid-Hudson Walkway takes you over the Hudson River from Poughkeepsie to Highland.
